Software Development Manager (Apr 2007 – March 2013) During my time at The University of Law I was instrumental in the creation of a robust set of processes and practices to improve the quality and efficiency of the software development team. These included activities such as the creation of a development and test environments defining branching and merging strategies and outlining release procedures. I also provided guidance and definition to many of the IT processes both internal and external to my team in a drive to improve efficiency and better working practices. 

Key achievements:

  • Defined development processes from the ground up
  • Built the ability for students to purchase courses and apply online
  • Grew the software team from 2 people to 15
  • Created systems to allow online payment facilities processing approximately £5million worth of transactions per year
  • Created reporting applications that allowed the company to maintain its Highly Trusted Status with the UK Border Agency
  • Delivered over 80 projects while maintaining business as usual.

Key achievements:

  • Created an ecommerce portal to allow qualified lawyers to purchase courses.
  • Created systems to allow online payment via credit card (Barclay’s ePDQ) which at the time of leaving was automatically processing approximately £5million worth of transactions per year
  • Created a reporting application that allowed the company to maintain its Highly Trusted Status with the UK Border Agency
  • Delivered over 80 projects while maintaining business as usual and implementing change requests.
